My story

My journey with art and writing began when I was a child.  I have  always loved  children's picture books. I loved them when I was a kid. I loved working as a school librarian.  I remember thinking how lucky I was to have a job where I get to read to students every day. 

I also loved reading  books to my own kids when they were little.  Now I love reading to my five  grandchildren even if it is over the phone!

 I always wanted to write a book but didn't really get started with writing and illustrating until I was in my 50's!   But just like my character, Sadie,  it is always the right time to  try new things and make your dreams come true.

My art practice was ignited during a trip to France in 2018. After that trip,  I started taking classes and drawing and painting regularly. 

Now, I can't imagine my life without art making.  It is both exciting and relaxing and I get so much joy from art.  I hope my art and books will bring the same kind of joy to others!

When I am not  sketching new characters or shaping a manuscript, you’ll find me at  the Arkansas Museum of Fine Art, shoe shopping, or just hanging out at home with my husband, John, and my dog, Henry.
